Members consist of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, who are dentists specializing in surgery of the mouth, face and jaw. Many oral and maxillofacial surgeons earn a medical degree as well as a dental degree, and would be identified by MD, DDS. Members must be: certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; a member of the American Dental Association; a graduate of advance oral and maxillofacial surgery education program accredited by the ADA; ethical practicing in the United States of its possessions; a member of his/her OMS state society.
