Free, online emergency response course available for dentists

The American Dental Association has announced the availability of a free, online continuing education course for dentists to become more effective in recognizing and responding to disasters.  The online course, Core Disaster Life Support, is available through a cooperative effort between the ADA and the American Medical Association. The First Formal Dental School

The first formal dental school in the United States and in the world was the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.  The school officially opened in 1840.  Prior to dental schools, dentists learned by apprenticeship.  One could become a dentist after five years of apprenticeship.  The training was all based upon the type of teacher he had.  In some cases, the education was not too great.  The familiar D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) had its origin at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.  It was from this initial college that future schools, accreditation and curriculum evolved.
