Chicago Dentist - Symptoms of Periodontal Disease

SYMPTOMS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE

If you experience any of the symptoms listed below, see your dentist.

• Gums that bleed when you brush your teeth
• Gums that are tender, swollen, or red
• Persistent bad breath
• Gums that no longer adhere to the teeth
• Pus in the crevice between your teeth and gums
• Teeth that are loose or pulling apart
• A change in your bite, or the way the teeth of your lower jaws contact those in your upper jaw
• A change in how your partial dentures fit

Because it is possible not to have any of these signs and still have periodontal disease, you should have regular visits with your dentist that include periodic periodontal exams.
