The obvious answer is the dentist’s skill and ability to solve, treat and prevent dental problems. The other is the professional relationship that you have with the dentist’s office in general. Were you treated with respect, compassion, care and concern? Were you reminded of your appointment and with regard to follow-up treatments? Were you charged appropriately or was your insurance carrier notified promptly? Did you feel that the dentist answered any and all of your questions? These are items that make the difference between a competent dentists and a great dentist.

How is the dentist perceived within the community? Does he or she have long-standing patients that have been seeking the dentist’s service for years? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you probably have found yourself a great dentist. If not, keep searching for the perfect fit for you.
